Project Overview

The role of libraries are evolving yet seem to go unnoticed by most of the public. In this short documentary, I take a personal and in-depth look at Gunn Memorial Library in Connecticut. My goal was to uncover how they are serving their community in a new and different way. The documentary needed to capture the important work libraries do, while also spotlighting the people behind them. Through an on-site visit and an interview with a librarian, the film offers a first-hand perspective that brings authenticity to the narrative.

As a one person team, I shot, interviewed and edited this entire piece. I adapted to environmental conditions like background noise and harsh outdoor lighting, all while following a storyboard of notes to capture meaningful content. I also filmed b-roll and added sound effects to the final video, crafting a documentary that’s compelling, within a cohesive story line.
